Fundraising Ireland is a new network for fundraisers in Ireland. Find out more...
23/08/2010 - Would you like to join the Board of Fundraising Ireland?
Submit your nomination before September 17th 2010 and you could play a leadership role in the development of fundraising in Ireland.
Fundraising Ireland has emerged over the last three years as the national focal point for fundraisers and fundraising development across Ireland. When established in 2007, Fundraising Ireland was overseen by a group of volunteers working as a Steering Group, however in 2009 Fundraising Ireland became incorporated as a company limited by guarantee and as a result this Steering Group became a Board of Directors.
The Fundraising Ireland governance structure states that:
‘The Board will consist of a minimum of 8 members and a maximum of 11 members. In the case of a Board of 11, 8 are elected members and up to 3 can be additional co-opted members.’
At present there are vacancies on the board for four additional elected members. This will bring the membership of the Board to a total of ten people.
Fundraising Ireland is heading into an exciting period of development that will see the launch of the membership programme in October of 2010 and a certified fundraising education programme is planned for roll out in mid 2011. If you would like to give your skills and knowledge to assist Fundraising Ireland in achieving its important mission then we encourage you to submit a nomination form.
Please read the Guidelines for Nominations and Elections Process before completing a nominations form.

5/8/2010 - Fundraising Ireland Surveys
As we launch our first Fundraising Ireland survey, the country is showing some initial signs of economic recovery. Over the last 18 months the sector has experienced one of its most challenging periods, or at least we believe that is the general sentiment.
As many of you will be aware, figures and trends chronicling the state of the Irish fundraising marketplace are few and far between. Fundraising Ireland now wants to address this knowledge gap and our survey is the first of a quarterly series which will explore the challenges you face, the results you are achieving and the tactics you are using to maintain and increase your donor income.
All we need is 5 minutes of your time. Please complete the survey now as without your input the vacuum on facts and figures will remain. The survey is completely anonymous so please reply honestly. Results, which will help all of you in your future fundraising endeavours, will be published on in the members area of the new Fundraising Ireland website to be lauched this autumn. The more of you that reply the more relevant and representative the results.
There are two surveys. One for Fundraisers and one for Heads of Fundraising/Fundraising Managers/CEOs etc.
Please choose the survey that is relevant to you.

10/07/2010 - Photos from the International Summit of Fundraising Associations
On Wednesday 7th July 2010 at The Institute of Fundraising's (UK) National Convention, many of the leaders from various fundraising associations met at the sixth International Summit of Fundraising Associations to discuss matters of shared interest. Items on the agenda were:
- An open forum discussion about the threats and challenges to ethics that exist from across the participating countries;
- A review of the International Code of Ethics (how is it being applied by national associations and how can it be improved?);
- Accreditation and training: a review of the professional qualifications that exist and a discussion on proposed developments and advancements planned by those attending the summit. Questions were raised on the nature, level and extent of fundraising training and education and how we can share ideas and resources in a non-competitive manner and establish an understanding of educational equivalency from country to country.

22/06/2010 - Philanthropy in the Republic of Ireland report
The Philanthropy in the Republic of Ireland report by consultants McKinsey Company, to be launched today 21/06/2010 by Minister for Community, Equality Gaeltacht Affairs Pat Carey, has found while only one in 10 Irish people do not give to charity, giving tends to be unplanned and donations tend to be quite small.
“Rising disposable income levels in Ireland have not translated proportionally into rising levels of charitable giving,” the report said.
It also said ultra-wealthy Irish families are not engaging in philanthropy at a level that reflects their means. And it said the Irish foundation sector is underdeveloped and its long-term future is uncertain.

Fundraising Ireland Membership Programme
Fundraising Ireland was established in 2007 to provide networking, support, education and training opportunities to those involved in fundraising in the not-for-profit sector and to promote and share best-practice in fundraising methods. Our Board has worked in a voluntary capacity over the last two and a half years to grow the organisation into a professional network and we are delighted to be able to announce that we will be launching our official Membership Programme later this year.
This is a huge milestone for our organisation and also for fundraisers in Ireland, who, for the first time, will be able to join a professional body that is specifically focused on supporting them and representing their interests. Since we started on this journey in 2007 we regularly connect with over 1,000 individuals involved in fundraising and we have run a number of training and development sessions annually. Having developed and launched the inaugural National Fundraising Conference in Ireland in 2009, Fundraising Ireland is now building on that success to make this an annual highlight of every fundraiser's year.
